This workshop's perfect for beginners and those with some experience. All equipment's included - just bring your ideas and enthusiasm!

Throughout the day you'll make a needle felt animal or pet of your choice and I'll guide you closely showing you how to create and join different shapes, how to felt around wire, which fleece to choose, and how to add adorable character so that by the end of the day you'll be ready to start your own needle felt projects at home. Don't forget to bring photos to follow!

There'll be lots of different sheep fleece from my own collection for you to use and to add your own special touches. But don't worry as I'll show you the differences between fleeces and textures and demonstrate which fibres work best for needle felting!

What to expect of your day

Come and join me in the picturesque village of Hatton where I'll be waiting to welcome you to a delightful day learning how to needle felt in the heart of rural Warwickshire. Workshops are held in a pretty craft studio nestled in a cottage garden and equipped with all the facilities you will need. It's a light and calming craft space where you can comfortably enjoy the whole day, and is a haven for you to learn in beautiful surroundings and friendly company.

Small group numbers ensure that you'll receive close guidance and personal instruction throughout the day so that you leave with the skills and confidence to continue your craft at home.  It’s a lovely way to spend the day, but don’t take my word for it, read what people have to say about workshops they have attended in my review section towards the bottom of this page.

Refreshments

On arrival you'll be greeted a selection of morning teas or freshly ground coffee before we get started. I provide cordials and soft drinks throughout the day with yummy snacks and fruit for if you're peckish.

You'll need to bring a packed lunch with you, which you can eat in the studio - or if it's a nice day we'll take it into the garden to eat at a picnic table. It's such a lovely spot in the summer!

Needle Felt Starter kits

I sell needle felting starter kits for the great value of £15.00 for those who want to head home and carry on needle felting! This pack includes a large foam pad, six needles, a wooden needle holder, finger protectors and carded wool batting (ideal for needle felting) in colours of your choice.  All equipment and wool can also be purchased individually.

The Location

Near Warwick, the village of Hatton is easily accessible with good main road links to the A46 and within easy distance of the M40, M1 and M6 There is also plenty of private parking.  Alternatively the cottage is only a mile from Warwick Parkway and I can arrange for collection from the train station if you let me know in advance.

Workshop Reviews

Just wanted to say thank you so much for a fabulous workshop.  We had such a lovely day and I think you have created such a lovely event.  The location is perfect, very peaceful and the room itself just right with lots of light. It was all beautifully organised and your teaching style was perfect.  It was lovely how you introduced us all and made us all feel so welcome and then gently guided us through the process with so much positive encouragement. I was genuinely impressed with the results, you wouldn't believe we were all beginners!
Lucy, Kent
"Simply put, book this workshop! Sophie has done an absolutely amazing job at creating the perfect experience. Easily one of the most welcoming and nicest people I've ever encountered, with such a passion for this wonderful craft. Going in knowing absolutely nothing about needle felting, my mother-in-law and I have come away with a new love and hobby. The garden studio was relaxing and lovingly decorated and we came away with mini versions of our dogs that we actually want to keep and are already displaying. We were made to feel so comfortable and she took her time with each of us in the group (6 of us) to help throughout the day, with no pressure to rush at all. Sophie is truly in her element, a fantastic teacher and has really inspired me to start a new hobby, which I've been missing from my life for so long. Thank you so much, Sophie!"
Stephanie, Shropshire
"This was most definitely one of the best craft courses I have ever attended. Such a well thought out day. The room and facilities were ideal. Sophie is very friendly and welcoming and combined with that, a great teacher with lots of patience and enthusiasm for the craft. I made a felted sculpture of my Welsh Springer which I now proudly display at home. I also came away with enough confidence and information to start making one of my other dog a Cocker Spaniel. Everyone on the course did really well we all came away with prized felted dogs. I would recommend that if you are thinking of felting go on this course you learn so much. I hope to return and learn some more. Thanks Sophie."
June, Halesowen
"Booked for Mum and I as a Christmas gift to ourselves. What a wonderful day! I made a stoat and Mum made a squirrel - both fantastic, if we do say so ourselves - even though we'd never done this before. Sophie is lovely - warm and welcoming. She clearly loves her craft and knows her stuff. She has a wonderful 'can-do', flexible approach to your project, helping you to achieve something of which you can be proud. The venue is gorgeous, the food provided wonderful, the information given before, during and after the day spot-on and I would heartily recommend this day to anyone thinking about booking. You will not be disappointed in any way."
Kate, Leicestershire
"This was the best course I have attended. The venue was delightful, a beautiful studio overlooking an orchard garden. Sophie was a most welcoming host, who made the course participants feel instantly at ease. Hot drinks, and delicious snacks were a most welcome extra on a course like this. But by far and away the best part of the day was the course itself.
Janet, Northamptonshire
What a superb day we had learning all about felting! Sophie is kind, patient, knowledgeable and funny which is everything you need for a fabulous day learning a new skill. If you had told me that I was going to turn the pile of wool in front of me at the beginning of the day into something which, frankly, I am enormously proud of I would never have believed you but Sophie managed to teach us all to be 'so clever' whilst feeding us the most amazing food and drinks..what a genius she is!!!! Cannot rate this fantastic day highly enough. I loved it...thank you so much Sophie
Jill, Herefordshire
"This was one of the best courses that I have ever attended The venue was amazing the food was amazing but the warmth and enthusiasm form Sophie made the day truly fantastic I am so proud of my dog I can't believe I made it Thankyou Sophie I just couldn't stop smiling on the day I would recommend this course to anyone."
Jane, Oxfordshire
"Quite one of the nicest things I've done in a while. Sophie is an amazing teacher and lovely person. Plus her work is incredible. I would highly rate her courses. The great thing is that you don't need to be a creative expert. It's ideal for all levels and age groups. So much so I am booking onto the next doggie making course!!”

“I had a wonderful time at Sophie’s Needle Felt Dogs workshop. I booked with a friend and it was such a treat to be with her, the other lovely participants and Sophie for the day, learning something new. Sophie is a really clear and encouraging teacher. It was very interesting to find out about all the different wools and see the different textures.  I enjoyed the whole process and left with a completed Westie model that has been much admired since. Thank you Sophie.”
Soni, Cumbria.
"I enjoyed the day so much and am sure I will be back (I find it hard to do thinks like this at home and taking the day out to fully enjoy it was fantastic!).  It was so lovely to have such a great little group of ladies around the table being creative and your easy going nature and upbeat guidance made the day a delight!
Tamara, London
"I had a fantastic day at Sophie's studio. Sophie is a very kind, patient teacher, and I was delighted to achieve a recognisable model by the end of the day! The day went by too quickly; lovely Sophie, good company with fellow crafters, delicious food thanks to Sophie's mum, and a new craft addiction. Really cannot recommend this course too highly. Try it. You will not be disappointed."
Margaret, Coventry
"This was the best day I have had crafting in a long time. I had no experience of felting at all and Sophie guided me throughout the day with patience and a smile. She is a wonderful teacher and I learnt so much. I made a small model of my dog Brussel and she looks absolutely fabulous (if I say so myself!) I can highly recommend this day you will love it!"
Sam, Northamptonshire
"I attended Sophie's workshop as a complete novice, not even knowing what needle felting was - Sophie is patience itself, and has a real gift for sharing her knowledge in a clear and fun way. Everything about the day was really well thought out and included THE most fantastic lunch cooked by Sophie's lovely mother, the whole day was thoroughly enjoyable. I couldn't recommend this workshop highly enough, thank you Sophie, and mum!"
 Denise, Warwickshire
"This is such a great way to spend a day that I have been twice! and I took my neighbour this time as a birthday treat. Sophie is just a delight, welcoming, encouraging and very skilled. The surroundings are beautiful, the food delicious and to be with a group of lovely women learning a new skill was heart warming. Thanks again Sophie.
Susan, Worcestershire
"First time I have attempted any craft. I attended the workshop on my own. I was made very welcome by Sophie, the small numbers on the day meant I soon felt part of a group, informal friendly with inspiring information and instruction, no pressure, lovely calm, peaceful surroundings. I am coeliac and my dietary needs were carefully met. I would totally recommend this course to anyone wishing to try a new craft, a brilliant day by a very talented ,inspiring and patient lady."
Elaine, Leicestershire

"An absolutely fantastic day. I really can't fault anything about this course. Sophie is a warm, generous and knowledgeable instructor and makes the whole day work really well. The venue is beautiful, but above all Sophie's teaching style was supportive, fun and enthusiastic. Her communication before the course was excellent and I knew exactly what to expect on the day. Just book... go on... do it. You really won't regret it."
Hilary, Derbyshire
